What is Reiki Ryoho?:
The word, Reiki is formed from two Japanese kanji terms;
rei, which means spiritual or sacred and ki, which means energy. This is the word that has evolved as a description
of the energy-balancing technique credited to Mikao Usui. “Reiki” actually represents in Japanese, the spiritual, sacred
(universal) energy that is the essence of all existence. Ryoho means healing method, therapy or remedy. These words together,
Reiki Ryoho, are used to describe a system of wellness and enlightenment, generated through universal spiritual energy. This
technique as practiced and taught by Usui was initially called Usui Do (way of Usui). It then became known as Usui Teate, Usui
hand touch, as taught by one of his earlier students. Usui Do is still a version of the traditional methods of Usui, as interpreted
by a branch of his early students. Eventually the tradition of Reiki taught in this class became known as Usui Reiki Ryoho, as taught
by Hiroshi Doi.
Reiki Ryoho is known as a “traditional” Japanese method of Reiki, practiced and taught by Mikao Usui, with direct lineage traced to him.
Other methods of Reiki have been adapted through “westernization” outside Japan, and/or developed to incorporate other methods of energy
practice.
Benefits of Reiki Ryoho:
Reiki Ryoho heals at the root cause and eliminates the effects of imbalance,
as the energy flows to the greatest need. It does not conflict with religious beliefs, and is a complimentary, natural helping method that
does not interfere with medical treatments. Reiki Ryoho minimizes feelings of helplessness and releases accumulated daily stress. The
practice of Reiki Ryoho promotes personal growth, compassion, love, trust, self-actualization, peace and goodwill within individuals.
Reiki Ryoho Training:
Three levels or degrees of instruction exist in the traditional Reiki Ryoho
technique. The first is Shoden, beginning teachings, which opens the Reiki channel for an individual. The second is Okuden, highest or
secret level, which involves learning three sacred symbols and corresponding kotodama (mantras) that increase the power of the Reiki being
channeled. The third level is Shinpiden, God’s secret method-teacher training, which introduces a fourth sacred symbol and enables an individual
to connect with a higher level of consciousness in performing Reiki.
Shoden Level:
At Shoden level, individuals learn the basic theory and healing technique to enable
them to use Reiki for themselves and others. Four attunements are performed on those in Shoden training. Our Shoden Class duration is about eight
hours, to ensure individuals gain understanding of the history, breathing and meditation techniques, hand positions, and
have ample time for feedback and practice in the presence of the Reiki teacher.
